Arguineguín & Mogan

A couple of days after the last trip, it was time again. A rather shitty Hyundai i20 was rented, the family was packed up but the stroller wouldn’t fit, even though it’s a travel stroller that would basically function as hand luggage on the plane, sigh. After once again showing off my Tetris skills, we got it into the front seat and off we went. Away from Sodom, from all-inclusive hotels, from tasteless clothing, watery wine and dingy beer, we thought.

Our first stop was in what was described as a small fishing village, Arguineguín. We parked at the port and it looked quite picturesque and nice at first but quickly the hotel complexes towered up and when I walked past the catamaran with the text “Pura vida” I couldn’t help but smile at memories from my trip in Costa Rica. We walked further along the beach and found the Norwegian Seamen’s Church, here the ladies sat in a row knitting together with a cup of coffee. Not much of a picturesque fishing village but full of Normans and other tourists but there was a really nice natural pool which gives plus points.

Back to the car and towards Mogan. Here we aimed for the tourist area of Little Venice by the harbor, touristy as hell but a really cozy area to walk around in. From here, several day trips by boat depart to see the coast from the sea side, diving/snorkeling and even a boat trip if you want. We may have gotten away from mankinis and other indescribable clothing items but mass tourism, you can’t seem to get away from it no matter what you do on this island.
